Raniccula flowers in the rain. A bud within a bud within a bud.


Lusting after the egg box. First there were 4, then 3,2,1 none, you get the picture. It would have been nice to taste one of these but I live with chocoholics :o)Never mind I've got the purple box.


Buzzing on charity shop found buttons. They are old and need a tooth brush scrub but will come up good me thinks.


Laughing at myself after finding this badge on one of my bags tucked away in the attic. I've always been a bit of a badge collector and love pinning little statements on things.

Some deliciously soft socks from Braintree clothing. I haven't bought new socks for myself for what feels like years, probably about 2/3 years. I always forget to buy myself socks,not sure why, maybe I secretly think I'll knit myself some more so won't bother? Umm, reality check I've only ever knitted 3 (successful!)pairs and these are already looking like they need darning/replacing!



Finally a little sunshine rainbow magic on our dining room walls. Oh it was divine to feel the sun on my back last weekend. 

All in all its been another busy week. When is it not busy?


  • I've started to run 3 times a week again
  • I've been writing more lists
  • Went to a Tiger store for the first time
  • Had 1 1/2 hour consultation with prosthdontist regarding my sad teeth and all the ������ that are needed to remedy the situation (I'll try not mention this on my blog again,it makes me quite anxious and is something i just need to face head on)
  • I've got what feels like 101 projects/audits/stuff to do in my job. All good and part of my professional development. 
  • Alice has had a busy social life this week. Going to hairdressers with friends (I can't remember accompanying my friends to hairdressers when I was 12?)Going to her musical theatre classes and having tea at friends. Going to an all day birthday gathering today... my goodness she's hard to keep up with some weeks:o)
  • I've finished crocheting some fingerless gloves for a friend
  • I haven't had much time to read and comment on many blogs but hope to catch up this weekend.

Jute crochet

Now that Summer seems to have finally arrived (we had a BBQ this warm eve with friends visiting from Brighton) I decided to make myself a pillow for the beach - I like to have a little luxury when we go to the beach :o) I bought some jute twine a while back with this in mind...   It all begins with the purchasing of some twine. I don't know about you, but I always need string and twine and ribbons to wrap around presents, so whenever I see some reasonably priced twine I tend to purchase usually a little more than I need and it lasts me an age. So, take some jute, decide on your crochet hook size, I chose a 5.5mm hook and get a hookin' in a circle shape. I often use  this  pattern and a little of 'make it up as I go along' to get me a circle big enough to lay my weary beach head on. Once you have achieved the diameter you desire (I used treble stitch as the jute is quite rough and a double stitch hurt my fingers too much after hooking for a while), choose some old fabric...

Happenings

Thank you all for visiting and your comments on us trying to sell our home. Well you won't believe it but our second viewer put in an offer which we accepted and our offer was accepted on the 1930's home we wanted and voila....the deal was done! It all seems too good to be true really and it's still a long way off, but we are counting our blessings and moving forward with the lawyers and mortgage company etc (all the dead boring necessary stuff). So, I'll keep you posted. In the meantime we have made our home messy again with just living in it and I have been absorbed in crochet craftiness. I am running a little workshop for beginners in my friends art studio where she teaches art classes. The same place I made my needle felted hen at the end of March. To prepare I have been rolling out loads of little balls of colourful mostly Stylecraft yarn so that I can teach everyone how to make a basic granny square. My Easter hen and other makes

Happy Mothers day to all you precious mums out there, I hope you get thoroughly spoilt and looked after on this celebratory day! I have found a little window in my day to post about my needle felting workshop I went on last Saturday. The aim was to make an Easter hen. I have never needle felted before and I was excited to learn a new crafting technique as I have always admired the beautiful things that can be made with this material. It all began with a hairy, woolly ball and some very sharp barbed needles and a lot of stabbing and shaping which was a great stress release! Then we got to admire and choose from lots of woolly colours And learnt how to shape wings and make polka dots and flat pieces of felt to make my hens crown and tail. And so, my Easter hen Harriet was born... Everyone's hens turned out differently and it was wonderful to see how each one of the 5 of us made different hens from the same materials.
