Little things
Hello there, I hope those of you in the Northern hemisphere are starting to enjoy the longer evenings and lighter mornings and for those of you in the South are finding some relief from the relentless heat?
Today, was a perfect Sussex blue sky sunny-shiny day and with feeling the sun on my face as I drove to work, it evoked memories of last Summer and the hint of carefree long evenings after work, cycling along the seafront and the smell of bbq's.....it really is on it's way and I cannot wait.
In the meantime though I am filling my life up with little itty bitty bits, including my first ever little A5 copy of Pom Pom Quarterly which has gorgeous Spring knits in it and a few interesting articles too. The patterns look quite complex to a novice knitter like myself, but I might just feel up to the challenge, we'll see.?
I finally cast off my shawl at midnight last night, I used Stephen West's simple Boneyard shawl pattern and adjusted it to include a lace row instead of a garter stitch row. I'm excited to block it (definitely needs blocking) and will show you, I think its turned out rather big and lovely. I used Rowan Fine Art yarn which is an absolute pleasure to knit with.
I wanted to show you my husband Andy's bargain of the week which he bought for me, a charity shop find at 4(!) for this beautiful Shelly 1930's cake stand in absolutely mint condition, not a chip in site. I adore the colours and the design, it really means that I have no excuse to have a tea party now :o)
Otherwise, its all the little things like these Merchant and Mills scissors which are making me smile and my growing collection of plastic kitschy Acorn and Will birdy brooches and flower earrings.
I popped in one of my free gifts from my gift bag after purchasing 2 skin care products on Saturday in the photo below. It's this sweet pink tube of CC cream which is really a rather lovely little treat for my face which I want to try and be mindful of looking after as I head towards my mid-forties. I have always been a sunshine girl and have been naughty over the years not protecting my skin adequately, hopefully better late than never in my case.
?
How sweet is that wee little spoon too? Not sure what I will use it for, maybe for spices? Any thoughts??Oh and last, but not least is some "Alice" yarn, how could I possibly have resisted? I am hoping my colour combination choice will work, we'll see!
Wishing you all a week full of little things that make you happy.
See you soon with my blocked shawl
